101/101 | carleton & me

my favourite mascot in the whole wide world is carleton the bear. not only is he cute and adorable, he also cheers for the good ole leafs, heckles the opposing team, and intently watches the last few minutes of almost every game with his nose pressed up against the glass. grown men love him too. really! i've seen them pat him on the back of the head as they walk by.

i got it in my mind that i wanted to get a photo taken with carleton so i put it on my 101 in 1001. i never thought it would actually happen because (a) i don't go to many hockey games, and (b) i've never actually seen him up close and personal. but as fate would have it, at the very next game i attended, carleton popped into the very section where i was sitting. i nearly squealed and dragged vince with me to get a photo of us. i smiled so wide, it looks like i'm grimacing.



i love him so much that i'd buy a stuffed version of him but they all look inexplicably ugly. i'm not gonna lie, i think it's bizarre that they can't get a stuffed animal to look like a mascot.

autumn approach

if autumn did not so accurately predict winter, it would be my favourite season. wow that sentence was awkward. but no less true. i love everything about autumn - getting my hair cut, stocking up on chunky sweaters, transitioning to rich plum nail polish, and gathering recipes for hearty soups and stews. i love the refreshingly clean air, the colour of the trees, and the anticipation of change. if only i could remain blissfully unaware of winter, lurking right around the corner, threatening to pounce.

vince and i went to ruth's chris steakhouse to celebrate my birthday. since my birthday is in may, it was a little late. but still, there was confetti on the table, we got a free slice of birthday cake, and the waiter snapped a birthday photo for the restaurant website. our faces were red because it was HOT in there.



here we are back to normal. erg, well as normal as we can be.
